WE are STRONG!
covid coughed "closure!"
'n' the world sneezed "exposure!"
BUT we are STRONG,
our desert composure still
BONDS beyond the BORDER
a bond lit by the love
'n' simplicity nurtured by the
elders who persevered
'n' dreamt of law school
aviation, medicine, education
they too were gently nudged
forward by their elders
who kept the kohea
fires burning,
yams aplenty in the corner,
fish traps checked,
canoes caulked,
community chores cracked,
so we could thrive,
— each generation on the up!
today, we are STRONGER
in spirit, innovative,
entrepreneurial,
MOTIVATED to pass
on that adventurous trait
to the next lot, yes
a generational baton change!
