Rotuma Surprises in Fiji Games

Rotuma has surprised many districts taking part in the Fiji Games as they continue to lead the medal tally half-way through the last day of competition.

Rotuma leads with 11 gold, 10 silver and 4 bronze.

At second place is Suva with 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze while Lautoka is at 3rd place with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Rotuma grabbed most of their gold medals from the swimming competition.

The Fiji Games competition continues with touch rugby at Marist grounds, hockey at the National Hockey Centre, baseball at the Veiuto grounds while athletics will be held at the Post Fiji Stadium.

Turner lifts gold

SANIMILI Turner lifted a total of 465 kilograms to win gold for Rotuma in the Fiji Games Power lifting competition yesterday.

The evergreen lifter was in good form and was joined by Lorance Visanti who added a gold to Rotuma's tally.

The islanders finished off with two gold medals at the meet.

Suva topped the meet with five medals which included three gold, one silver and a bronze.

Lomaiviti won two gold medals followed by Lau on one gold. Rewa and Macuata got one silver medal each.

Rotuma takes gold in basketball

ROTUMA surprised all to win the gold medal in the men's grade at the basketball competition at the Fiji Games on Saturday.

The Rotumans managed a 41-25 win over Suva in the final. Navua won the bronze with a 31-20 win over Savusavu.
