Rotuma Games progress

by Arin Kumar

NO outright contender for the 2011 Rotuma Games stood out after the first day of competition at the Suva Grammar School grounds yesterday.

Sakini Saverio, president of the hosting club Ra'esea, said they might be able to determine the top contender for the title after tomorrow's competitions.

"The games were very competitive and at first we saw that teams were a bit nervous but after they progressed further into the day they gained confidence and played really well," Saverio said.

"Rugby is a see-saw battle between Nadi, Sarafui and Satarua and for netball, after the round robin games, the tussle is between Satarua and Sarafui," he said.

He said Sarafui and Ra'esea are the top teams in the men's volleyball competition while the women's volleyball competition remains wide open.
