In Noa'tau at least each ho'aga had its own god. In Maragtiu it was Mafsemau, and in Fekeiaki it was Umu. When the family of the ho'aga went to a funeral this god was called on just as other districts called upon their district god, to announce who had arrived, i.e. Ravaka of Malhaha. These ho'aga gods were prayed to before a battle, and after that the house where they had visited was closed until the fighting was finished. | ho'aga= households forming a local work group |

The gods of Tua'koi were Fereituanak and Tapua'a. Fereituanak is an 'atua of the first Ferei of Tua'koi. The name Ferei is the title of the head of Tua'koi chiefs, which has been held up to the last generation. Afioa is the fuag ri of this title, and it is supposed to be the house site of Fereituanak when he was chief in Tua'koi. His name is called at funerals when Tua'koi chiefs leave for some other district to call on the house of some dead relative or friend. Fereituanak lived in the 'Oroi-Vaiasere. |
