The issue, the main issue is not the salvage of the ship from the reef, but the removal of the fuel from the crippled vessel before a major leak begins. No more political meetings; no more inspections by so called experts; no more collective scratching of heads in rapt apprehension. Just get another ship out there now, one with pumping gear and empty tanks, and pump about ten thousand litres of fuel out of the crippled ship to prevent the potential crisis of large volumes of gasoline spilling into Rotuma's pristines lagoons. This will also serve in making the ship lighter so it can float off the reef more easily. Do thi - worry about the ship sailing off into the sunset later! Akata Hodgkinson |
