From Fiji Times Online (17 March 2013) Mt St Mary' s Prefects Induction by Shayal Devi KAILA - PARENTAL support helped 13-year-old Cina Foster recover from the trauma after the passing away of her grandmother, and now the Rotuman lass stands proudly as the new Head Girl of Mount Saint Mary's School. Miss Foster and Manasa Daurewa were officially inducted as the Head Girl and Head Boy at the recent Prefects Induction at the school. The Chief Guest at the event, school manager Father Rafaele Qalovi, said it was God's calling for the prefects to lead the other students. "God inspires and empowers leaders. Leadership is not just about influencing others. Being wise in your leadership, equipped with moral values is important - you should be able to distinguish between what is good and what is bad or evil," he said. Mr Daurewa said he was very excited and felt challenged to lead a big school like Mount Saint Mary's School which has a roll of 600 students. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Iosefo Daurewa, a renowned drummer for the former Black Rose band - who was the head boy of Navunibitu Catholic School. Both leaders have grand ambitions, with the Head Boy aiming to become a pilot to travel around the world and meet new people. |
