Military Engineers To Return To Work On January 3

Work on 12 projects, by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Engineers, will resume on January 03, 2018.

RFMF engineers operations manager Major Sanaila Vatukalulu said the engineers were on leave for Christmas and New Year.

"They will report back to work on January 03," he said.

As for the engineers working on the new Rotuma Hospital they will also return to the island on January 3. At the moment 10 engineers are looking after the construction site.

"From the 50 engineers involved in the construction of the Rotuma Hospital, 40 are on leave and 10 are at the site," Major Vatukalulu said.

Rotuma Hospital Builders Return For Christmas Break

The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Engineers will now minimise activity at the Rotuma Hospital in Ahau during the festive season.

This was confirmed by the operations officer Major Sanaila Vatukalulu yesterday.

He said the Commander RFMF, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto went to Rotuma on Saturday on board the Patterson Brothers Shipping Limited owned vessel the `Spirit of Love' to inspect the hospital.

He said Rear Admiral Naupoto would return with some engineers on the 'Spirit of Love'.

"There are 50 engineers in Rotuma and only some will remain on the island to look after the RFMF equipment," Major Vatukalulu said.

Project troop leader Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Penaia Balawa said 20 engineers would remain in Rotuma.

He said they were also helping in the construction of a bakery at Hapmak village, a piggery at Lapta and laying blocks at a building at Lau Village.

WO1 Balawa said the hospital on the island would be completed in October 2018.

For the festive season he said about 200 engineers would be working around the country and they were on stand-by for the cyclone season.

Naupoto To Visit Engineers At The Rotuma Hospital

The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto will be visiting the RFMF Engineers constructing the Rotuma Hospital in Ahau.

Engineers’ Operations Officer Major Sanaila Vatukalulu said the Commander and his team would be leaving for Rotuma on December 16.

“The Commander will be leaving on a Patterson Brothers Shipping Company Ltd vessel “Spirit of Love” from Ellington jetty this Saturday and will be returning on the same vessel,” he said.

Major Vatukalulu said 54 engineers were in Rotuma some of whom would be spending Christmas and New Year away from their families.

He said the commander’s visit would boost the morale of the engineers in Rotuma.

He said the engineers were working on Phase 2 of the $5.2 million hospital.
