The Fiji Rotuman Sports Council (FRSC) annual volleyball
tournament was held on 30-31 May at the multi-purpose courts in Lautoka.
Given the closure of the gold mines in Vatukoula, Tieri Club was unable
to participate; however Satarua, Sarafui and Raesea travelled from Suva
to join Granville from Nadi for the tournament. Host club Moiro
made up the fifth club.
From the outset of the two days, the skills and talents Rotumans have
to offer volleyball at a national level were evident.
Granville took the women's team title whilst Raesea collected the
men's and mixed teams trophies. Moiro, who were runner ups to both the
women's and men's title, shared the overall winners trophy with Raesea.
Satarua was awarded the Best Dressed team trophy.
FRSC president, George Atalifo, thanked all participating clubs for yet
another successful tournament and wished all clubs well in their preparation
for the October games.
