From Fijilive (21 April 2009) Fiji takes down Samoa Despite the lack of game time and build-up matches towards the Oceania World Cup qualifier, the Fiji women’s volleyball team proved too strong to edge Samoa 3-2 in a thrilling encounter in Wellington yesterday. The clash between the Pacific rivals saw a display of raw volleyball talents which saw the Fijian side keep the Samoa at bay in the battle of the spikers. Fiji lost the first set 13-25 but pulled out a strong second set win (25-17) before bowing out (14-25) in the third set. Good attacking and defensive skills by lone Rotuman Margie Erasito and skipper Anaseini Seniloli help steer Fiji back on course (25-12) before they pulled out a 15-10 win in the decider.
