From Fiji Times Online (26 September 2009) FIJI collected a silver and two bronze medals in the va'a (outrigger canoeing) at the Sailing Club at Muri Lagoon yesterday. Competition started after a half day delay with organisers forced to deal with some protests. However, the competition started after midday with the semi finals. Natalia Evans won silver in the women's VI 500 metres. She clocked 2 minutes 46.90 seconds. The 33-year-old was edged out by Hinatea Bernadino of Tahiti, who finished in 2min 34.54secs. Mario Mausio had to settle for the bronze in the men's VI 500 metres. Mausio clocked 2min 25.86secs. Manatea Dupont of Tahiti won gold in a time of 2min 19.30secs
