Teams battle in Rotuma Games

TEAMS from the different parts of the country will be coming together for the Rotuma Games today at Suva Grammar School grounds.
A total of sevens clubs will be battling in the different sports which includes rugby, volleyball, netball and touch rugby.
Ra'asea Sports and Social Club has been given the task to be the hosts this year.
Club president Kevin Iroa said there was hope that Rotuma Games could be a stepping stone for many young Rotumans for national duties.
"It is a one-day competition and this is the time when the people come together," he said.
"Our aim is to develop our youths so that they can play for Fiji at the international level.
"We all are looking forward to the games.
"This competition is one of the oldest competitions which started way back in 1970s.
"We are also planning to introduce more new sports in the competition.
"We might include basketball and swimming next year. People can also come and watch the teams play."
The winners will be receiving trophies at the end of the day.
