Rotuma High School may have bought only three athletes to this year's 2023 Coca-Cola Games, but they are here with a mission.

They have thrown down the gauntlet to all schools competing at the secondary schools athletics meet this weekend, that the team is gunning for gold in all their events.

The man to watch is their junior athlete Asif Ali, who won both the 800m and 1500m at the maritime zone competition at the HFC Bank Stadium yesterday.

He clocked at time of 2m21.15s in the 800m and won the 1500m in a time of 5m36.34s.

"I trained very hard for this games, with the aim to not just be a competitor but to win," Ali said.

"Waking up early morning to train and in the afternoon after school has paid off and I'm now ready for the Coca Cola Games."

Coach Joseph Savea said they have been training with the Marist Brothers High School athletes during the week.

"It got the boys motivated and they are ready," he said.

Savea thanked all the Rotuman families, teachers and ex-scholars for their support.
